As the field of computers and technology is increasing and evolving time by time. There has been an introduction to another field of computers (Greenwood, Perrin and Duggan, 2016). That field is known as social media. The social media platform consists of various applications, software, and websites, which allows the user to interact and share different things with anyone all around the world (Tuten and Solomon, 2017). There are a lot of various types and applications of social media. Some of them are used for people’s interaction, for marketing, and much more. Some examples are Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Description

Social media helps people connect and interact with others from all around the world. It helps people doing and making their business more effective and beneficial (Anderson and Jiang, 2018). With the help of social media, people can publicize their business or anything they are doing business of. Many people use social media as a platform where they can easily do paid advertising and much more (Allcott and Gentzkow, 2017). Some common uses and applications of social media are defined below:

Social networking

Social networking is a common type of social media. In social networking, a lot of people from different places interact with each other. Social networking includes Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. with the help of these platforms and applications, people share and collect new ideas and various informative data. Relation networks is another name used for social networks. These applications help the user to perform different tasks such as offering or searching for a job, posting photos, and sharing other media (Sliva, Wang, Tang and Liu, 2017). For instance, in the early days when Twitter was newly introduced, people usually used it for asking or answering different questions from each other. But now, as the use of such applications has increased, it is now helping users to get new information about the whole world.

Networks for media sharing

To store or share any type of data, a media sharing network is used. This data can be in the form of any multimedia file. For instance, an image file, an audio file, or video file. There are a lot of other activities that can be performed by is using a media sharing network. Such as a lot of people use the feature of live streaming. These networks can help an individual for his business in many different ways. By using media sharing networks, the user can share his media about the product or any brand he is doing the business of. As he shares that, a lot of people get to know about it. Other than that, there are people such as you tubers and media experts who share different types of media to their public (Kapoor, K.K., Tamilmani, Rana, Dwivedi and Nerur, 2018). To make their business grow, they use different applications such as Instagram, Snapchat, etc. A lot of people are doing online businesses or marketing with the help of these platforms.

Discussion forums

This platform which is known as discussion forums includes different websites and applications. These applications allow users from all around the world to ask their questions. A lot of people get to know about different things and they get some new ideas about their queries. Some common examples of discussion forums are Quora, Reddit, and many others. With the help of these platforms, an individual can advertise his or her business. People can add the description and features of their product or whatever brand they are advertising for. A lot of people get different and effective ideas for starting or managing their business and make it more beneficial for themselves and the customers too.

Consumer review networks

These networks are used to find any information about anything they want. It can also help some people in sharing information or advertise their brand. It helps both the customers and the sellers. The customers get to know about every feature of the product and every other detail related to the brand. This is how the customer can get fully satisfied and can ask for any other queries. Some common applications and examples of consumer review networks are, Zomato, TripAdvisor, etc. for instance if an individual wants to go in a trip, and he does not know much about the expenses or facilities, he can simply visit these applications or websites and ask any question related to his concern (Felix, Rauschnabel and Hinsch, 2017). With the help of these networks, an individual can get information or even book a hotel room in any other state or country. These networks are growing rapidly because of their effectiveness and a lot of people are taking advantage of these networks.

Sharing economy networks

There are those types of networks where the user can buy, sell, or trade different products. Different applications offer the sharing economy network. With the help of these networks and applications, more people get to know about the business, and this is how an individual can get more customers (Miller, Sinanan, Wang, McDonald, Haynes, Costz, Spyer, Venkatraman and Nicolescu, 2016). Some of the most common examples of these networks are Uber, Airbnb, etc. There is another term that is used for “sharing economy networks”, which is “collaborative economy networks”. Through these networks, a lot of people connect and can buy or sell and deal with other activities with each other.

Social media is an advanced field and technology of computer generation (Hjorth and Hinton, 2019). There are a lot of various applications and different websites on social media such as Instagram, Uber, Facebook, Twitter, etc. there are a lot of different applications and uses of these websites and networks. For instance, a lot of people use it to enhance and make their business effective and more beneficial. An individual can share a lot of information about anything through these networks and applications (Bucher and Helmond, 2017). Many people sell and buy stuff online with the help of social media. In today’s world, social media is getting essential for almost everyone’s daily life. Some types of social media networks are, social networks, networks for media sharing, discussion forums, consumer review networks, economy sharing networks, blogging networks, publishing networks, and much more.
